Moonchild

OutsiderBad Moon Rising

The Moonchild is an Outsider who acts as a posthumous executioner, killing a Good player if they select one upon their own death. While detrimental to the Good team's survival count, the ability can be weaponized to confirm the alignment of the chosen player.

Other Nights

"If the Moonchild used their ability to target a player today: If that player is good, they die."

Strategy Guide

Playing As

  • Coordinate your choice publicly before you die so the town knows exactly who you are targeting and can interpret the result.
  • Target players who are likely Good but protected (e.g., Sailor, Fool, or someone next to a Tea Lady) to verify them without costing the town a life.
  • Dying early can be beneficial to confirm the Outsider count and prove your role, especially in a Zombuul game where your delayed kill proves you aren't the Demon.
  • If you choose a player and they die, they are confirmed Good; if they do not die, they are likely Evil or protected.
  • Be wary of dying poisoned (e.g., by the Pukka), as your ability will not trigger, potentially making you look like you lied.

Playing Against

  • Bluff as Moonchild to discourage the town from executing you due to the threat of an extra death.
  • If you are an Assassin or Godfather, kill the player the Moonchild chose to make an evil teammate appear Good by simulating the Moonchild's specific kill condition.
  • Keep the Moonchild alive until the final days; they are a safe execution for the Good team early on, but a liability when only a few players remain.
  • As a Minion, claim Moonchild and choose a player you know is protected (or the Demon) to explain why no death occurred, simulating that you picked 'Evil'.
