Strategy Guide

Playing As

  • Play aggressively and bluff powerful roles (like Undertaker or Fortune Teller) since you have no active ability to lose if you die.
  • Claim to be an Outsider yourself to confuse the town's count, potentially hiding the presence of a Drunk or casting doubt on real Outsiders.
  • Act as a 'patsy' to absorb executions or dangerous abilities (like the Slayer's shot) to protect the Demon.
  • Double-claim with a good player to create 'two universes' of information, forcing the town to waste time resolving the conflict.
  • Coordinate with the Imp to be a safety net for a star-pass if they need to kill themselves to save the evil team.

Playing Against

  • Count the number of players claiming to be Outsiders; if there are two more than expected for the player count, a Baron is likely in play.
  • If the Outsider count suggests a Baron but is short by one, deduce that a Drunk is likely hiding among the Townsfolk.
  • Trust confirmed Outsiders if a Baron is suspected, as they are proven good players despite their negative abilities.
  • Do not prioritize executing the Baron over active threats like the Imp or Poisoner, as the Baron's damage was done at setup.
  • Utilize Investigator or Librarian information to confirm the presence of Minions or the added Outsiders.
