Librarian
A first-night Townsfolk who narrows down the identity of a specific Outsider to a pair of players, or confirms that none exist. This ability verifies the game setup (checking for Barons) and helps confirm the alignment of the involved players.

Strategy Guide
Playing As
- Compare your information with the expected Outsider count to detect a Baron or confirm your own drunkenness.
- Speak privately with the two players you saw; usually, one is the Outsider and the other is a truthful Townsfolk.
- Consider withholding your information initially to catch evil players bluffing as the Outsider you saw (or a different one).
- Since your ability is used on the first night, bluff as a high-priority target (like the Empath or Undertaker) to draw the Demon's kill.
- If you see the Drunk, you know that one of the two players has unreliable information, which is valuable for solving the puzzle.
Playing Against
- Evil players often bluff Librarian to 'confirm' a teammate who is bluffing as an Outsider (like the Saint or Recluse).
- If a Librarian confirms a Saint, ensure the town does not execute that player to avoid an immediate loss.
- A Spy can register as the Outsider or the second player in the pair, misleading the Librarian into trusting an evil player.
- If the Librarian claims a '0' in a game that should have Outsiders, they are likely Drunk, Poisoned, or the setup has been altered by a Baron/Godfather.
Interactions
The Librarian can instantly detect a Baron if they see an Outsider when the script suggests none, or if the count mismatches.
DrunkUniquely able to identify that the Drunk is in play and narrow it down to two specific players.
SaintConfirming the Saint prevents the Good team from accidentally executing them and losing the game.
RecluseCan verify a Recluse who might otherwise register as evil to characters like the Chef or Empath.
SpyThe Spy can register as the Outsider to the Librarian, creating false trust.
PoisonerActing before the Librarian on the first night, the Poisoner can alter the Librarian's initial information.
