Gambler

TownsfolkBad Moon Rising

The Gambler is a high-risk information character who confirms player roles by betting their own life on the accuracy of a guess. While they provide concrete data by surviving, their death can be easily confused with Demon kills or other night deaths.

Other Nights

"The Gambler points to a player, and a character on their sheet. If incorrect, the Gambler dies."

Strategy Guide

Playing As

  • Confirm powerful Townsfolk claims (like Chambermaid or Tea Lady) to build a trust chain for the good team.
  • Gamble on yourself to guarantee survival for a night or to prove you were targeted by the Demon if you die.
  • Coordinate with the group to ensure you aren't executed if you plan to verify a player and potentially die at night.
  • Be wary of being protected by the Tea Lady or Innkeeper, as survival might result from protection rather than a correct guess.

Playing Against

  • Kill the Gambler at night to make it appear as though they guessed incorrectly, discrediting their previous information.
  • As a Minion, bait the Gambler into guessing your bluff to kill them, then change your bluff later if needed.
  • Use sources of extra deaths (Assassin, Godfather, Gossip) to muddy the water regarding why the Gambler died.
  • Bluff as the Gambler to justify surviving late into the game by claiming to 'gamble yourself' every night.
