Seamstress
The Seamstress is a Townsfolk who wakes once per game to determine if two chosen players belong to the same team. This ability is pivotal for building chains of trust or isolating the Evil Twin pair.
Ability
Once per game, at night, choose 2 players (not yourself): you learn if they are the same alignment.
Night Ritual (Storyteller Instructions)
First Night
"The Seamstress either shows a 'no' head signal, or points to two other players. If the Seamstress chose players, nod 'yes' or shake 'no' for whether they are of same alignment."
Other Nights
"If the Seamstress has not yet used their ability: the Seamstress either shows a 'no' head signal, or points to two other players. If the Seamstress chose players, nod 'yes' or shake 'no' for whether they are of same alignment."
Strategy Guide
Playing As
- Use your ability early (Night 1 or 2) to guarantee information before dying, and to minimize the risk of poisoning or character-swapping affecting the result.
- Compare an unknown player against a player you trust is Good; a 'Yes' confirms a new ally, while a 'No' identifies an enemy.
- Checking neighbors can be high-risk but high-reward; if they are different alignments, you have found an evil player (unless a No Dashii is poisoning you).
- In a Vortox game, your information will be false; use this to 'Vortox check' by selecting two players who are logically confirmed to be the same or different.
- Create a 'trust block' by confirming players near you, which helps support position-based info roles like the Town Crier or Flowergirl.
Playing Against
- Bluffing Seamstress provides a simple, binary piece of information that is easy to fake without managing a complex history.
- As an evil player, claim two players are the 'same alignment' to tie a Demon to a trustworthy good player, lending the Demon credibility.
- Claiming two good players are 'different alignments' is a strong way to sow discord and make them suspect each other.
- Be wary that claiming to use the ability very late in the game (e.g., Night 5 or 6) looks suspicious and like a Minion panic bluff.
- Expect to be nominated for execution after claiming to have used your ability, as the town often prefers executing 'spent' characters.
Interactions
You can resolve the Evil Twin standoff by checking the Good Twin against the Evil Twin (should be different) or one Twin against a known Good player.
VortoxSince the Seamstress receives binary Yes/No info, it is excellent for testing for a Vortox (e.g., checking confirmed allies and getting a 'No').
No DashiiBe cautious checking neighbors, as the No Dashii poisons their neighbors, reversing your binary information.
PhilosopherThe Philosopher can choose to gain the Seamstress ability, allowing for a second confirmation check in the game.
Snake CharmerA late-game Seamstress use can catch a Demon who has just swapped with a Snake Charmer.
