TravellerBad Moon Rising

The Bishop is a Traveller that removes player agency by forcing the Storyteller to make all nominations. This creates an information puzzle, as the Storyteller must nominate at least one player of the opposing alignment to the Bishop each day.

Strategy Guide

Playing As

  • Use your knowledge of your own alignment to solve the puzzle of the Storyteller's nominations; you know for a fact at least one nominee opposes you.
  • Privately suggest nominations to the Storyteller; while they have final say, they may cooperate to help your team or maintain game balance.
  • If Good, encourage the town to vote on the Storyteller's choices, as apathy leads to no executions.
  • If Evil, ask the Storyteller to nominate players protected by the Devil's Advocate or frame good players to waste executions.
  • On the final day, ensure the Storyteller knows to nominate all living players (and potentially dead ones) to give your team a fair chance.

Playing Against

  • Analyze the list of nominees daily; at least one must be the opposite alignment of the Bishop, which helps deduce the Bishop's alignment.
  • If the Storyteller is consistently nominating players the town trusts, the Bishop is likely Evil; if they nominate suspicious players, the Bishop is likely Good.
  • Don't hesitate to Exile the Bishop if the town feels stifled or needs to nominate a specific player the Storyteller is ignoring.
  • Pay attention to voting patterns; often the first nomination gets fewer votes due to uncertainty, so coordinate votes carefully.
