Dreamer
A powerful information gatherer who investigates a player each night to learn one good and one evil character token, one of which is true. By comparing these tokens against player claims, they can validate trust or expose lies.
Ability
Each night, choose a player (not yourself or Travellers): you learn 1 good & 1 evil character, 1 of which is correct.
Night Ritual (Storyteller Instructions)
Each Night
"The Dreamer points to a player. Show 1 good and 1 evil character token; one of these is correct."
Strategy Guide
Playing As
- Prioritize staying alive above all else; your ability is one of the strongest for narrowing down the evil team.
- Do not reveal your information immediately; ask the chosen player to claim their character first to see if it matches one of the tokens you saw.
- Be cautious when checking immediate neighbors, as a No Dashii could poison you, feeding you false information that protects the Demon.
- Use the 'evil' character shown to deduce which Minions are likely not in play if you trust the player is good, or to catch a player in a lie if they claim a different good character.
- If your information is consistently impossible or contradicts proven facts, consider that a Vortox may be in play causing all info to be false.
Playing Against
- Bluffing as Dreamer is difficult but powerful; coordinate with your evil team to 'confirm' their bluffs as the good character you saw.
- If you are evil and checked, stick to your bluff confidently, as Storytellers often show the Dreamer the character you are pretending to be.
- As a Minion, you can bluff Dreamer to spread misinformation, such as confirming the Demon as a harmless Townsfolk.
- Kill the Dreamer early; their ability to mechanically narrow down the possible evil candidates becomes exponentially stronger as the game progresses.
Interactions
The Dreamer is a prime detector for the Vortox; if the info received is logically impossible (e.g., showing a character known to be dead or out of play), it signals a Vortox game.
No DashiiBeing seated next to the No Dashii poisons the Dreamer, often making them see the Demon as a specific good character to cover their tracks.
Evil TwinChecking the twins is often futile as you will likely see the Good Twin's character and the Evil Twin token for both, but this can confirm the Evil Twin mechanic is active.
MutantSeeing the Mutant token is ambiguous; it might be the real Mutant, or the Storyteller showing a plausible cover for an evil player to protect them.
MathematicianCan detect if the Dreamer is receiving false information due to poisoning or a Vortox.
