"The Exorcist points to a player, different from the previous night. If that player is the Demon: Wake the Demon. Show THIS PLAYER IS and the Exorcist. The Demon does not act tonight."
Strategy Guide
Playing As
- Choose players you suspect are the Demon; if no deaths occur that night, you may have successfully blocked them.
- You cannot choose the same player two nights in a row, so rotate back to suspects on alternate nights to confirm your read.
- Once you successfully choose the Demon, they learn who you are, so watch for players who suddenly turn against you.
- Be wary of false positives; investigate if the lack of death was caused by protection roles (Tea Lady, Innkeeper) or Demon passivity (Po charging, Zombuul).
- Delay revealing your role until you have solid information or need to coordinate, as you are a high-priority target for the Evil team.
Playing Against
- If you are the Demon and get chosen, you learn the Exorcist's identity; decide whether to kill them immediately or wait to avoid confirming their suspicion.
- Bluffing Exorcist is excellent for Demons (especially Po or Pukka) to explain nights without deaths.
- As a Minion, prioritize killing or discrediting a known Exorcist since the Demon cannot act if they are blocked.
- If the Exorcist claims to have blocked you, you can claim another reason for the lack of death (e.g., Innkeeper, Tea Lady, Po charge).
Interactions
A Po choosing to charge (not kill) can mimic a successful Exorcist block, creating a false positive.
PukkaBlocking the Pukka prevents them from poisoning a new player, but the previously poisoned player still dies, delaying the 'no death' signal by one night.
ZombuulSince the Zombuul registers as the Demon even when dead and often doesn't kill, Exorcist information is very ambiguous, but you can target dead players.
ChambermaidSince a blocked Demon does not wake to act, the Chambermaid will see them wake 0 times, confirming the Exorcist's success.
Gossip/GamblerDeaths caused by these characters can make an Exorcist think they failed to block the Demon when they actually succeeded.
