Butcher
A Traveller that allows the town to execute a second player each day via a special nomination. This accelerates the game significantly, helping Good resolve conflicts or helping Evil deplete the town's numbers.
Ability
Each day, after the 1st executionThe deliberate killing of a player by the town during the day., you may nominate again.
Strategy Guide
Playing As
- As a good player, use your ability to resolve double claims (e.g., two players claiming the same character) by executing both in a single day.
- As an evil player, use the unchallengeable nature of your nomination to force executions on good players, even if the town is hesitant.
- Coordinate with your team if you are evil; ensure you do not accidentally nominate the Demon or a Minion holding a critical ability.
- Be mindful of the player count; reducing the population too quickly can hurt the good team by removing information sources or triggering loss conditions (like the Evil Twin).
- If the town is undecided or ties on the first vote, you do not get to use your ability, so encourage a primary execution if you want to use yours.
Playing Against
- Monitor the Butcher's nominations closely; if they consistently target good players or refuse to nominate consensus evil candidates, consider exiling them.
- Be extremely cautious in Evil Twin games; the Butcher accelerates the death count, which can end the game before the Twin pair is resolved.
- Watch voting patterns during the Butcher's nomination; since this vote cannot be 'beaten' by a subsequent nomination, a coordinated evil team can force a kill with just 50% of the vote.
- If a Witch is in play and the Butcher is never cursed, suspect them of being evil, as a good Butcher is a high-priority target for the Witch.
Interactions
The Butcher speeds up the game, which favors the Evil Twin by reducing the time Good has to figure out the pair.
FlowergirlProvides a second voting phase each day, giving the Flowergirl another opportunity to detect if the Demon voted.
WitchCan curse the Butcher to prevent the second execution; an uncursed Butcher in a Witch game is suspicious.
BarberRapid executions increase the likelihood of the Barber dying and triggering a Demon swap.
VortoxHelps ensure executions occur, which is necessary to prevent the auto-loss condition in Vortox games.
