Witch

MinionSects & Violets

The Witch is a Minion that suppresses the Good team's ability to nominate by cursing a player each night, killing them instantly if they nominate the next day. This creates fear around the nomination process and allows the Evil team to snipe key targets or fake confirmation of their own alignment.

Ability

Each night, choose a player: if they nominate tomorrow, they die. If just 3 players live, you lose this ability.

Night Ritual (Storyteller Instructions)

First Night

"The Witch points to a player. If that player nominates tomorrow they die immediately."

Other Nights

"If there are 4 or more players alive: The Witch points to a player. If that player nominates tomorrow they die immediately."

Strategy Guide

Playing As

  • Target loud, boisterous players early in the game, as they are the most likely to nominate and trigger your ability.
  • Curse players the Demon does not want to kill but who need to die, such as the Sage (who won't get info from a Witch death) or Ravenkeeper.
  • Consider cursing yourself or a fellow evil player (especially a Minion) to 'confirm' them as Good, since the town typically assumes Witch victims are innocent.
  • Adjust your targets based on the meta; if the town starts asking quiet players to nominate, switch your curse to those quiet players.
  • Coordinate with your Demon to ensure you aren't overlapping kills or accidentally hitting a target the Demon needs alive (like a Snake Charmer bait).

Playing Against

  • Be cautious about nominating on the first day or if you are a high-priority target, as the Witch often targets loud leaders.
  • Encourage quieter players to make nominations, as the Witch usually predicts loud players will act.
  • Players who die immediately upon nominating are usually Good, so trust their previous information unless it is a high-level evil bluff.
  • Use the presence (or absence) of Witch deaths to deduce which Minions are in play; for example, a lack of deaths might suggest a Cerenovus or Pit-Hag game instead.
  • Don't let the fear of the Witch paralyze the town; sometimes sacrificing a player to get a necessary nomination (like on a suspected Demon) is worth the cost.
