Savant
A Townsfolk who visits the Storyteller daily to receive one true statement and one false statement. Through logic and deduction, they separate fact from fiction to solve the game state.
Ability
Each day, you may visit the Storyteller to learn 2 things in private: 1 is true & 1 is false.
Strategy Guide
Playing As
- Visit the Storyteller every day to accumulate data; the more days you survive, the easier it is to find contradictions in the false narratives.
- Share your information publicly so the group can help solve the logic puzzle and ensure the data isn't lost if you die.
- Attempt to disprove one half of your information (e.g., by executing a player mentioned) to confirm the other half is true.
- Use logical deduction over time; if assuming Statement A is true leads to an impossibility on a later day, then Statement B must be the truth.
- If both pieces of information appear definitely false, warn the town that a Vortox is likely in play.
Playing Against
- As evil, listen to the Savant's information and try to 'confirm' the false statement or cast doubt on the true one.
- Kill the Savant early; if they survive many days, the accumulated data becomes exponentially harder to bluff against.
- If bluffing as Savant, give 'juicy' but vague information that distracts the town without being easily disproven immediately.
- Be aware that the Savant is a hard counter to the Vortox, as they will eventually realize both statements are false.
Interactions
The Savant receives two false statements instead of one true/one false, making them excellent at detecting this Demon.
ArtistCan use their once-per-game question to definitively prove or disprove one of the Savant's statements.
MutantStorytellers often provide Savant information regarding the existence or identity of hidden Outsiders.
Evil TwinThe Savant can receive clues that help the town distinguish between the Good and Evil twins.
Snake CharmerSavant information can be used to track if a Demon jump has occurred.
