Ability

Once per game, during the day, publicly choose a player: if they are the Demon, they die.

Strategy Guide

Playing As

  • It is generally better to use your ability early and miss than to die with your shot unused; a failed shot confirms that the target is not the Demon.
  • Coordinate with information-gathering roles like the Fortune Teller, Investigator, or Washerwoman to narrow down suspects before shooting.
  • If a Monk is in play, coordinate with them for protection so you can save your shot for the final days when you have a higher statistical chance of hitting the Demon.
  • You can bluff as a high-priority target (like the Ravenkeeper) to draw a night kill, or bluff as a spent Slayer to lower your threat level.
  • Pay attention to the Recluse; if you shoot them, they might register as the Demon and die, wasting your win condition but confirming their role.

Playing Against

  • Kill the Slayer early at night to prevent them from using their ability, or use the Poisoner to make their shot fail regardless of the target.
  • As a Minion, bluffing as the Slayer allows you to 'shoot' your Demon to 'prove' they are innocent, or 'shoot' a good player to frame them or build trust.
  • If the Slayer shoots the Imp, the Scarlet Woman can immediately become the new Demon, so keep the Scarlet Woman alive as insurance.
  • Bluffing as the Slayer is a strong backup lie for evil players caught in a different bluff, as you can claim you were hiding your identity to save your shot.
